Week Eight Reflection

This week has been pretty slow in regards to Ambassador duties as well as school. We had Monday and Tuesday off which was really fun and relaxing. However, it meant we only had a 3 day week instead of a 5 day week therefore, UCBA did not have as much going on.

Despite the fact that it was a pretty slow week I did have the opportunity to work at the English Conversation Group on Thursday night. We watched a TED talk on the danger of the single story, meaning that it is dangerous when we see people only through one lens or angle. What we see may be true but there is more to someone's life than one single story. This launched a great discussion on being seen as one dimensional and we were all able to share our experiences with this topic. I loved hearing what all the students had to say about their experiences, and, although I am not an international student , I did find myself able to relate to this idea in other areas. I am glad I had the opportunity to understand others students better and also gain more understanding of myself as well.

School this week was pretty relaxed. On Friday I had both a quiz due in calc and a paper due in English. The paper seemed to take me much longer to write than I had originally planned, simply because there were so many angles I could take with my topic. However, I was able to get the paper in on time and I felt good about the finished product.

Even though it was a bit slower than usual I was grateful for my week and all the little moments I had.
