This week has been crazy busy, filled with both moments of stress as well as fun and encouraging times.
After the long weekend that I spent in Yellow Springs, relaxing with my family, I came back to Cincinnati on Monday ready to start the week. I had meetings with council leaders, met with Sarah to go over my duties as a Student Life liaison, worked the welcome desk, had quizzes/tests in almost all my classes, and spent a lot of time with people laughing, talking, and encouraging one another.
Even though I had a blast doing all of these things, the Fall Involvement Fair that I worked on Thursday has to be one of my all time favorite events so far. Mackenzie and I stood outside in the perfect fall weather and handed out free pizza to 465 hungry students. There was a DJ playing upbeat music and tons of tables lined across the quad, with groups of students advertising their clubs and organizations. We had a blast dancing to the music and encouraging all the students to participate. This event allowed me to destress. I felt like I was fulfilling my responsibilities and encouraging students, while at the same time I could relax and just have fun in the middle of a busy week. The Fall Involvement Fair encompassed both my most impactful and most rewarding event of the week. I hope we have an event like it again soon!
In regards to my studies, I am continuing to learn a lot of great material. In Composition we are going over Joan Didion and her essay "The White Album" which talks about the sixties from her view point as a journalist at that time. Our class is discussing her writing style and all the meaning and thought that she puts into the words she uses and the way she structures her essays. I enjoy understand not only the writing but also the writer and what her thought process is like.
Over all, this week has been wonderful. Even though stress over school and other responsibilities crept up at times, I had a lot of rewarding moments as well.
